The Women’s Group Continues to Evolve…

Several big changes have occurred in the practice.  The first of these was to become more selective in the managed care plans that we accept. For the past ten years we were being paid less for doing more. To continue to remain strong, we can no longer accept insurance plans that pay less than our expenses, or that refuse to pay at all.

We formed a partnership with most of the other OBGYN groups in the South Metro area. We will contract with those insurance plans that would be willing to reimburse us at market rates. We refuse to be penalized for giving what we feel is necessary medical care. As a result of sticking to our guns, we are no longer “in network” or “participating” providers for certain companies (PacifiCare and Community Health Plan of the Rockies). We are available to provide care as out of network providers if you so chose.

We are happy to provide “in network” services for patients who have Cigna, Sloan’s Lake, Private Health Care Systems, Aetna, United Healthcare, One Health Plan, The Alliance, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, and many other managed care companies.

We apologize for any problems that may have occurred due to our position in these matters.

…Consolidate…

Due to our higher volume of deliveries and our goal to be available for both labor support and optimum care, we will no longer deliver at PorterCare Hospital as of August 1. We will continue to deliver at HealthOne Swedish and PorterCare Littleton Hospitals.

…and Integrate…

We are pleased to welcome Dr. James Delaney to the practice.  Dr. Delaney has been in private practice for a long number of years in the Denver area and his accomplishments include assisting with approximately 8,000 deliveries, starting the first licensed birthing center and delivering the first set of quadruplets in Colorado.  Among his varied interests are quilting, restoring horse drawn vehicles, raising yaks, biking, hiking, and “computing”. Dr. Delaney is winding down his professional medical career, and we feel fortunate to have this distinguished physician working with us during that process. If you are receiving your prenatal care here, please schedule at least one of your visits with him as he will be on call for the group and doing deliveries regularly through the summer.

The Women’s Group has also been graced with the addition of Barbara Ferris, MSN, Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner.  Ms. Ferris has had extensive experience in the OBGYN field, having worked in the Planned Parenthood prenatal program and prior to that as an office nurse in a high risk Obstetrics practice.  You are sure to enjoy her!
